A man was recently shot by two Mount Holly police officers, and he reports to a local news agency that recovery from injuries is slow, and
that he never attempted to shoot police officers as is alleged. According to the officer’s report, the man was speeding in his Nissan at 80 m.p.h. in a 35 m.p.h. zone.
The officers further report that when the officers approached the car “something went wrong.” According to the Mount Holly chief of Police, the driver of the Nissan was “armed with a handgun” and he reported that he did not “know…at this briefing what happened in the encounter from the time police left the car to the time gunfire began.” The driver reports that when he woke up in the hospital, he did not remember anything about the shooting. According to the man, he never fired at police, or even grabbed for his gun.
