There was a hit-and-run accident on Billy Graham Parkway early this morning, where a pedestrian was struck be a vehicle and then the driver quickly fled the scene.
Accordingly, the accident was around 6:30 this morning right at the the Josh Birmingham Parkway ramp going westbound towards the airport. The police were alerted to the situation, when a concerned citizen called in and stated he saw a man lying on the side of the road, obviously injured.
When the medics arrived on the scene, the abruptly took injured pedestrian to the closest hospital and he has potentially life-threatening injuries.
The accident caused the right lane of Billy Graham Parkway was shut down for almost an hour and a half as police investigated the accident in depth.
They left the scene of the crime about 8:15 a.m., but unfortunately that created detrimentally heavy traffic for all the rush hour drivers.
The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department is still looking for the culprit who hit the pedestrian. No other details have been released yet as to the pedestrian’s identity or condition.
