A couple in Gaston County, North Carolina are being charged with grand larceny, along with the damage to personal property, after they allegedly took an ATM machine from a hotel located in Gastonia, NC.  The hotel had the machine installed the week before the incident, and there was $5000 within the machine, and it weighed approximately 300 pounds.

Police noticed that there was blood at the scene of the crime, which they believe was from one of the suspects.  Further, the hotel keeps surveillance footage, which will likely be reviewed as evidence.  Both of the suspects have criminal records, including DWI and theft charges.

In North Carolina a larceny is the taking and carrying away of the personal property of another with the intent to permanently deprive that person of their property.  Further, if the chattel taken is worth more than two thousand dollars, the crime elevates from a misdemeanor to a felony.
