A 25-year-old Charlotte resident is currently facing a DWI and assault charges after he was responsible for an overnight crash in East Charlotte last Thursday.
The story gets a bit more interesting when the police began to pursue the man for suspicion of drunken driving.
The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department stated that they began the pursuit on Commonwealth Avenue, right near Morningside Drive, when the defendant los control of his vehicle.
The defendant had a female passenger in the car at the time, and when he lost control of his vehicle, he hit and tree, causing the car to flip and land on its top.
Apparently, upon being taken from the vehicle by the CMPD, the man punched his female passenger in the face and stomach.
Both the defendant and the female passenger were taken to the hospital for serious injuries; the female’s may be life-threatening.
Thusly, he is being charged with reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, and assault on a female, as the officers witnessed the man beating on the woman.
