Davidson County, North Carolina has announced the arrest numbers for the region during the Booze It & Lost It campaign over the past holiday season. The campaign ran from December 7th through January 2nd, and was aimed at keeping intoxicated drivers off the road. The holiday season is known for a higher rate of intoxicated drivers on the road because people are celebrating; and, with celebration comes intoxication and drunk driving.
During the winter months, law enforcement has set up fifty-two checkpoints and conducted thirty-five saturation patrols during the campaign, and thirty people have been charged during this period. Four out of those thirty people were also charged with underage DWI charges. Officers further charged people with traffic violations, and made eighty-eight felony arrests. A total of 3,147 DWI charges were issued statewide during the campaign period.
