The Highway Safety Research Center for the University of North Carolina has reported that there is an increase in the incidents of DWI drivers during the daylight hours.  They have reported an eleven percent increase in alcohol related accidents in the State of North Carolina, including Mecklenburg County, home of Charlotte.

State troopers in North Carolina have taken notice that since 2009, incidents of drunk driving during the daytime have been increasing.  The major concern with these daytime incidents  is that more people are on the roads, and therefore there is a heightened potential for injury.  Even worse, if intoxicated drivers occupy the roads during rush-hour, serious accidents may result.
