A driver is accused of colliding head-on with another driver, after witnesses and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police report that he was driving the wrong-way along Interstate 77. The Police say that the driver made it about five miles before he collided with the other vehicle near the Clanton Road exit. This occurred around 12:30 a.m on Monday morning. Witnesses are reported to have followed the man with the police on the phone, giving the police the man’s location.
The driver then collided with the other car, and police administered a breath-test. The victim was brought to the hospital with what the police report to be bumps and bruises, and the driver was treated by the EMT’s on the scene. The driver was later charged with allegedly driving while intoxicated, driving with a revoked license, careless and reckless driving, and driving the wrong way. However, the victim is also being charged with not wearing a seatbelt and having the wrong license plate number on his car. Further, police report that the Defendant has been charged with driving the “wrong-way” previously.
