A Newton, North Carolina man was killed in a car accident last week on N.C. 127 near the intersection of N.C. 10 when a vehicle was traveling southbound. The vehicle thereafter swerved over into the northbound lane and hit the victim’s car head-on. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated; however he later died of his injuries. A passenger, in the victim’s vehicle, was also transported to the hospital but his injuries were not life-threatening.
The offender was also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries, and is being charged with DWI and driving with a revoked license by the Newton Police Department. The driver states that he was not consuming alcohol before the crash; however, he admitted to taking Klonopin pills before submitting to a blood test.
