The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) has set up various DWI checkpoints recently. One particular checkpoint, on Central
Avenue, was set up a few weeks ago, and it ran from 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Further, the CMPD received assistance from the Matthews Police Department and Cornelius Police Department.
While the checkpoint was in place, CMPD charged four people with DWI, and many other people have been charged or cited with other traffic violations, including felony drug charges, possession of marijuana, and other traffic citations. This is all part of an effort to curb drunk and drugged driving in the city.
If you find yourself in a situation where you are charged with a DWI, or a drug crime of some sort, it is imperative that you call an attorney as soon as feasible. The attorney you chose should have the experience and knowledge necessary to handle your case with the delicacy and care it deserves. We defend DWI’s in North Carolina, DUI’s in South Carolina, and many other criminal charges in both states. In North Carolina, we cover areas such as Charlotte, Pineville, Cornelius, Huntersville, LakeNorman, Matthews, Mint Hill, and the UNCC area.
