The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department is currently charging a 46-year-old man for driving while impaired, after he was the contributing factor in a head-on collision this Saturday.
According to the police reports, the defendant was belligerent at the time he was operating his Ford F-250 and driving down the 6300 block of Old Concord Road when the accident occurred.
It was a little before 6:30 p.m., and the defendant travelling westbound could not keep his truck in his lane. He crossed over the double yellow line and hit a 1999 Nissan head-on.
The driver of the Nissan was a 23-year-old who is currently in critical condition.
When the police heard of the accident, they raced to the scene of the crime. Both men were unconscious at the time.
They were both transported to Carolinas Medical Center, where the 23-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries, and the defendant only had a few minor scrapes and bruises.
Currently, the investigation has proven that alcohol was most certainly the contributing factor, yet the BAC level of the defendant is yet to be released. He is being charged with a DWI, felony serious injury by vehicle and improper passing.
The crash still remains under investigation, and anyone with any information is urged to report to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.
If you should find yourself in a situation where you have been charged with a DWI you need to contact an attorney who has the experience and knowledge necessary to handle your case with the care it deserves.
