A man was arrested last Sunday after leading police on a high-speed chase in Lenoir County. The chase began when police attempted to stop a Toyota Corolla that was suspected of being stolen earlier that day. The chase started around 8:15 p.m., and police had to use “stop-sticks” on NC 55 in order to deflate the tires of the vehicle.
Thereafter, the man continued to drive the vehicle until he ultimately can to a stop after running into a police car. When the vehicle came to a stop, the man refused to exit the vehicle; police also suspected the man of being under the influence of alcohol. The man is now being charged with DWI, larceny of a purse, felony larceny of a vehicle, felony eluding police and several other traffic violations.
