A man was arrested in Concord, North Carolina this past weekend after leaving the NASCAR race. The man was driving well over the posted speed limit, which caused his vehicle to jump a curb. This occurred on Highway 29 as the man was getting off the I-485 ramp. However, the story does not end here; in the accident, the trooper struck four police patrol vehicles and injured two state troopers. The troopers who were hit were not seriously injured; they both suffered minor leg injuries.
Thereafter, the man was charged with DWI, reckless driving, and child endangerment because the man’s 9-year-old son was in the vehicle. A child endangerment charge can exacerbate a DWI charge to a felony in the state of North Carolina. It was determined that the man’s B.A.C. was a 0.14.
