A North Carolina woman has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of DWI, reckless driving to endanger, and fleeing to elude arrest, after police attempted to pull her over on a routine traffic stop.  The police report states that the woman would not stop her car unless the police officer would “pay her money.”  This erratic behavior was just the beginning.

Thereafter, the woman decided it was prudent to file documentation with the court declaring herself a “sovereign citizen.”  The symbolism behind one deciding to be a “sovereign citizen,” is that the person refuses to follow or serve the U.S. Constitution, further refusing to believe in the American form of government.  The woman made sure to include her own bill of rights with her paperwork.

The woman’s decision to initiate this type of defense is likely going to be futile because those residing in the U.S., or a U.S.  state cannot declare themselves immune from those laws simply because they do not agree with them.  She is likely going to hurt herself by playing around with the legal system.
